October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month! During the month of October, the Cumberland County Department of Information Technology (DoIT) will be providing residents with cybersecurity tips. DoIT is a member of the New Jersey Cybersecurity Communications & Integration Cell and Cybersecurity Awareness Month is the perfect time to raise awareness about the importance of Cybersecurity. It is also important that everyone has the information they need to be safer and more secure online.

Enable Multi-Factor Authentication: You need more than a password to protect your online accounts, and enabling MFA makes you significantly less likely to get hacked.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA), sometimes called 2-factor authentication, adds a whole other level of security to your key accounts. MFA includes biometrics (think face ID scans or fingerprint access), security keys or apps that send you unique, one-time codes when you want to log on to a sensitive account. We recommend you use MFA whenever offered.
