7/25/2009 - Barbara Cook Run-Ride-Walk for Cancer
The 2nd annual Run-Ride-Walk at New Jersey Motorsports Park, benefiting the Lance Armstrong and South Jersey Healthcare Foundations is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th, 2009. This year’s benefit will honor the memory of Barbara Cook, an avid athlete and cofounder of Quality Lincoln Mercury Hyundai who died suddenly from pancreatic cancer in November 2008 at age 57. She was a remarkable businesswoman and a pillar in our community as she chaired many boards and participated in numerous charities.
The Barbara Cook Run-Ride-Walk for Cancer at New Jersey Motorsports Park will raise both awareness and funds to fight cancer. The number of events and activities has expanded from 2008. The following events are slated:
- Fun Walk
- 5K Run
- 10K Run
- 8-Mile Fun Ride
- 31-Mile Ride
- 62-Mile Ride

Participants registered in the run, ride and walk portions of the event are invited to the BBQ for just an additional $10.
At the reception, a number of donated items will be part of a silent auction. The event will end with a candlelight walk around the F1 New Jersey karting track, with participants walking in honor of cancer survivors or in memory of loved ones. The candlelight walk will be open to everyone, with a glass candleholder and candle through a donation from UPS.
Children 12 and under are able to participate for free in each of the activities at the Barbara Cook Run-Ride-Walk for Cancer, benefiting the Lance Armstrong and South Jersey Healthcare Foundations. A kid's zone featuring inflatable games will be set up for entertainment throughout the evening.
