Cumberland County Library Children’s Program
Tuesday, February 25th at 6:30 pm Mrs. Melody is going to be reading Henry’s Freedom Box: A True Story from the Underground Railroad by Ellen Levine. The story follows a young man’s life in slavery and his clever escape to freedom. After the story, the children are going to work together to make a quilt using construction paper. Mrs. Melody is going to explain that some quilts used to be sewn with secret messages for slaves. Each child will receive small squares to draw on or color. They will all trade with each other to make their quilts. Following the story and craft, Mrs. Melody will give the children an opportunity to win prizes!
