Story Time
Thursdays, July 8, 15, 22 & 29 and August 5 & 12
10:30 a.m.

Children ages 5 and younger and a caregiver can join us as we share stories, songs, finger plays and movement activities! Library story times are a fun way to help your child develop skills they will need to be ready to read. This program will take place inside the library. Tween Club for Ages 9-12
Tuesdays, July 6, 27 and August 10
2-3 p.m.

Tweens ages 9-12 are invited to join us for stories, activities and crafts as we explore this year’s Summer Reading theme: Tails & Tales. This program will take place inside the library. “Tails & Tales” Summer Reading Kick-Off Event

Readers of all ages – infants to adults – are invited to join us for our Summer Reading Kick-off Event!
• 12-3 p.m. Visit with FURever As Friends pet therapy teams!
• 1 p.m. Magic by Ed! An interactive magic and comedy show for all ages.
• 12-3 p.m. Complete a library scavenger hunt to earn a prize!

Cartooning Workshop “Let’s Draw Animals!”

Kids and teens ages 8 and older are invited to a fun, interactive virtual program to learn to draw animals with award winning children’s illustrator Rick Stromoski. Bike Rodeo
Thursday, July 15, 5:45 p.m.

Kids ages 12 and younger are invited to join Cumberland County 4-H and officers from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Bike Patrol Unit for a Bike Rodeo! This fun, bicycle education event will feature several skill-building ridable courses for participants to complete. Bicycles with training wheels are welcome and helmets are required. No power rides will be allowed. Check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. with a 6 p.m. event start. Registration is required. Virtual Reading Buddies
Saturdays, July 17, 24 & 31 and August 7 & 14
11-11:30 a.m.

Kids ages 6-10 are invited to participate in Virtual Reading Buddies, a new program at the library which partners kids who want to sharpen their reading skills with trained teen volunteers.

Children and teens will read to each other for a half hour once a week for five weeks using Zoom. All sessions will be monitored by library staff.

Virtual Cartooning Workshop “Drawing Impossible Animals”

Thursday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Families are invited to join Housel Fun, Fitness & Music as they present their interactive show “Snails, Quails and Animal Tales.” There will be games, dances and plenty of audience participation. Family Night with Eyes of the Wild
Thursday, July 29, 6:30 p.m.

Families are invited to join Eyes of the Wild, an exotic animal refuge, for an in-person, live animal event! We’ll learn about five different exotic animals and get to touch some, too. Book Discussion & Virtual Author Visit
Monday, August 2, 2-3 p.m.

Kids ages 6-8 are invited to join us for a discussion of the book Fox & Rabbit written by Beth Ferry and illustrated by Gergely Dudás. The brief discussion will be followed by a Zoom visit with author Beth Ferry.

In this charming graphic novel “easygoing Fox and anxious Rabbit seem like total opposites, but they are the best of friends, discovering their favorite things and overcoming their fears together.”

Book Discussion for ages 9-12
Tuesday, August 3, 3-4 p.m.
Kids ages 9-12 are invited to join us for a discussion of the book El Deafo by Cece Bell.

Family Movie Night & Craft
Thursday, August 5, 5:30 p.m.

Families are invited to watch a movie on our big screen! In this 2021 Disney movie, Raya must track down the last living dragon to help save her world. Following the movie, each child in attendance will receive a craft kit to take home. Family Concert with Ian Gallagher
Thursday, August 12, 6:30 p.m.
All Ages

Get ready to dance the night away in our outdoor courtyard! Singer, guitarist, and all-around entertainer Ian Gallagher will perform a family-friendly program of Irish folk music and oldies songs. Participants are welcome to bring folding chairs or blankets to sit on. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside. Teen Anime Night

Teens ages 13-18 are invited to view and discuss anime, share artwork and plan for future anime programs. Teen Perler Bead Program
Tuesday, July 13, 6-7:30 p.m.
Teens ages 13-18

Teens are invited to create their own Perler Bead art. This is a fun, casual program where teens can make use plastic Perler beads and an iron to create almost any design they can imagine. All supplies will be provided. Teen Dungeons & Dragons Programs
Tuesdays, July 20 & August 3, 5-7 p.m.
Teens ages 13-18

Teens are invited to play Dungeons and Dragons! On Tuesday, July 20 our Dungeon Master will go over the basics of how to play D&D and take players on a custom adventure! Teens will have the opportunity to make their own original characters but pre-made characters will also be available. The adventure will continue Tuesday, August 3. Teen Paint Night
Tuesday, July 27 6-7:30 p.m.
Teens ages 13-18

Teens ages 13-18 are invited to join us for a night of painting with art teacher Tara Sherman! Everyone will get to create a masterpiece to take home that night. No experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided.

Teen Book Discussion
Wednesday, August 11, 4-5 p.m.

Teens ages 13-18 are invited to join us for a discussion of the book Blazewrath Games by Amparo Ortiz.

"Lana Torres has always preferred dragons to people. Oyster Tales with Bayshore Center

Presenters from the Bayshore Center at Bivalve will talk about the anatomy, life cycle, importance, and threats that oysters face, and will also talk about the history and culture of the Oyster industry in the Delaware Bay. The Golden Age of Radio with Steve Darnall—Heroes on the Air (Virtual Presentation)
Wednesday, July 28, 6 p.m.

Radio historian Steve Darnall will put the spotlight on those heroes who made their way from comic strips and comic books to radio in the 1930s, including Little Orphan Annie, Dick Tracy and Superman, as well as some legendary heroes who began in radio... and went on to conquer the world.

Outdoor Trivia Night with the Quiz Kids

Star Trek -- A Look Back at the Original Series (Virtual Presentation)
Wednesday, August 11, 6 p.m.

Astronomy expert and diehard Star Trek fan Paul Cirillo will look back to 1966 to share some interesting facts about the original Star Trek TV series and the cast. Of course, there will be a few trivia questions for die-hard fans! After the presentation, there will be an open discussion for everyone to share their Star Trek memories, experiences, and memorabilia.
