Starting Salary Range: $30,000 - $35,000
(Salary dependent upon experience)
DUTIES:
Under direct supervision of the Library Director, provides administrative support. Prepares purchase orders; obtains approvals; places orders; enters requisitions; maintains files of expenditures, as well as other financial records; coordinates and performs daily cash collections, counts, and reports; verifies invoices; maintains library supplies and records of their inventory; processes incoming and outgoing mail; prepares and processes library correspondence; processes time sheets; prepares and submits reports; maintains a variety of library records (including confidential Personnel records), files and calendars; posts library announcements and events; attends meetings as required; attends to minor building maintenance and acts as a liaison with building management; other duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience as an administrative assistant preferred.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced customer service setting.
• Ability to transcribe from dictation, hand-written notes, or verbal instructions with accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to proofread the work of self and others with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to perform basic accounting and mathematic computations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Familiarity with standard office equipment including personal computers with Microsoft Office software, and be able to learn and implement Library specialty software systems and procedures.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended time periods throughout the day.
• Ability to communicate effectively, patiently and courteously with Library staff and other County employees, Commission members, patrons and other community members and be responsible for protection of patron confidentiality.
• Ability to handle multiple activities or interruptions at once and to work positively and effectively within a team or self-directed model.
• Ability to conduct oneself with tact, good humor, and courtesy.
• Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license is required.
HOURS: Thirty-five (35) hours per week, Monday through Friday
NOTE: Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing, to include drug screenings, and criminal background checks.
