Senior Engineering Aide
Provisional, Pending Civil Service Open Competitive Procedures
Starting Salary Range: $41,000 to $45,333
Duties: Reports to and performs work under the supervision of the County Engineer. Task includes, but not limited to, assisting with the preparation of complete roadway and drainage construction drawings using AutoCAD; reducing survey information and making mathematical calculations to estimate construction quantities; Perform field work including surveying for construction projects, construction inspections, preparing daily inspection reports, making routine test involving strength, composition and quality of construction; preparing and checking contract progress estimates; keeping records; and related duties as assigned.
Requirements: Two (2) years of sub-professional engineering experience involving inspections, surveys, tests, drafting, and mathematical computations, or other sub-professional engineering work. Knowledge of the characteristics and properties of the materials and of the instruments used in road and other engineering construction activities. Must be proficient in MS Word and MS Excel. Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.
Note: Engineering education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis with thirty (30) semester credit hours being equal to one (1) year of experience.
Hours: Shifts vary and may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing that includes drug screening, criminal background check, and verifications of clean driving record. Including ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
