Salary: Commensurate with experience


Duties: Under direction of the Department Head, has charge of the economical and professional management of all functions, services, facilities and personnel associated with the storage, preparation, distribution and service of food for a nutrition program for the elderly (both in a congregate setting and home delivered meals); coordinates supporting social services activities; conducts nutrition education sessions in group settings; provides nutrition counseling to at-risk senior citizens; establishes necessary record keeping systems to ensure project compliance with relevant provisions of the State Sanitary Code and the nutrient standard method and/or any other system developed by the federal/state government which regulates the physical content of the meals served; gives suitable work assignments and instructions to assigned employees, provides them with needed advice and assistance, and checks their work to see that proper procedures are followed; establishes and is responsible for a system of ordering meals for daily consumption at the congregate meal site or for delivery to those temporarily homebound; conducts or assists in conducting interviews of program participants to record characteristics required for program eligibility and reporting purposes; oversees the development and certification of the menu to meet 1/3 RDI requirements by working the contracted caterer; maintained detailed records to accurately report program activities for grant compliance; and does other related work.

Requirements:

Ability to work independently and the ability to successfully operate in a detail-oriented environment. 
Have demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to motivate people.
Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze problems, organizes assigned work, and develops effective work methods.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license.  

Experience:  One (1) year of professional experience in dietetics or nutrition.  NOTE: Appointee will be required to p possess a current and valid certification as a Registered Dietician issued by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  ServSafe Certification is required or must be obtained within 4 months of hire.
