Duties:  The Cumberland County Library seeks an enthusiastic, team-oriented Youth Services Librarian with a strong public service commitment to join its growing Youth Services Team. The ideal candidate will have strong technology, communication, and reader’s advisory skills. The individual will demonstrate knowledge of print and online resources, as well as a commitment to providing services to children, teens, caregivers, and educators.
The successful candidate will have the ability to accurately perform a considerable volume of duties, and to handle multiple activities and a variety of assignments.  The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to creatively resolve problems when necessary.

Plan and implement creative programs for youth, including story times, crafts, and teen programs.
Work closely with the head of youth services to promote library services and resources to the community
Provide outstanding customer service, reference, and reader’s advisory to all library patrons
Share responsibility for collection development and maintenance of juvenile and young adult collections to keep the collection current and meet the needs of the community
Prepare content and arrangement of library material for displays exhibits & programs
Create flyers, social media posts
Other related work as required

Requirements: Master’s degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.  A New Jersey State Professional Librarian Certificate is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft office is necessary. Familiarity with searching SIRSI/Dynix-based library catalog, Libguides and prior experience with a public computer time and print management system preferred. 

Hours: Full-time position not to exceed 35 hours per week. Will be required to work every third Saturday and at least one evening each week.
