Duties:
Under the direction of the Veterans’ Service Officer, is responsible for assisting in the dissemination of information relating to the rights and benefits of veterans; interview veterans and their dependents to provide them with clear and accurate information relating to the various benefits provided under federal, state and local laws; conduct investigations relating to benefit claims cases and prepares the necessary forms required by the Veterans’ Administration; collect and distribute information of varied types concerning veteran’s rights and benefits; establish and maintain records and files; other related work as required. 

Requirements:
Ability to analyze and interpret federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies dealing with veterans’ rights and apply them to specific cases; ability to assist veterans in filing claims for service connection, pension, burial benefits and other eligible benefits; ability to prepare reports and correspondence; ability to abide by confidentiality standards and requirements; ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform all duties of this position.

? Highschool diploma, or equivalent. Secondary education preferred.
? Three to five years office experience
? Proficient computer skills, above average communication skills, command of professional writing, ability to deal tactfully with the public.
? Must be able to successfully pass VSO accreditation within 1 year of employment
? Appointees will be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
? Honorably Discharged Veteran status preferred. 

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week 

Note: Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing, to include drug screenings, and criminal background checks.
