Duties:
Under direction, performs variety of routine maintenance/repair tasks either singularly or in any combination thereof in the following fields:  masonry, plastering, carpentry, painting, plumbing, cleaning, steam fitting, sheet metal, electrical, glazing, 
Operates and makes minor repairs to boilers; does related work as required.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Use of standards tools, materials, methods, and practices involved in performing general maintenance and repair work.
Reports all problems, which may cause a delay in completion of work assignment, to supervisor, either in writing or verbally. 
Requires strenuous physical work, heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
Replaces parts such as switches, receptacles, breakers, fuses, filters, and other parts.
Makes electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning repairs with replacement parts and installation of controls. 
Performs preventive maintenance repairs on equipment and boilers. Fires and maintains low pressure boilers.
Knowledge of maintenance involved for a low-pressure boiler room operation and the proper levels for water in boilers to secure 
the maximum safety and efficient operation.
Maintains records.
Becomes familiar with normal operations of blowers motors, regulators and reports promptly any that are not operating normally.
Knowledge of procedures, materials, and the ability to run power equipment used in stripping, washing and other related work.
May clean offices, restrooms and other duties as required.  
Shovels snow, salts icy surfaces to prevent slipping and requires knowledge and ability to use motorized snow removal equipment.
Use of safety precautions in performing work, storage, distribute and properly use materials and supplies.
Knowledge of modern office methods to include experience with email, Microsoft Office and building maintenance programs. 
Organizational and data entry skills required to maintain records. 
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. 
Able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets and follow safety procedures. 
Be able to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written instructions.

Requirements:
Trainee must pass Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operator License test in 6 months after training. 

Note: 
Upon obtaining the Black Seal Boiler Operator License, issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, candidate then will be promoted to Maintenance Repairer, Low Pressure License.
Applicants must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Hours:
Shifts vary and include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. 40 Hours per week work.

Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing that includes 
drug screening, criminal background check, and verifications of clean driving record.
