Starting Salary: $27,544 


Duties:
Under direction, performs varied simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks in cleaning and maintaining offices, furniture, buildings, and grounds; may assist in making minor repairs to buildings or equipment. 

Knowledge and Abilities: 
Cleans rooms, offices, bathrooms, restrooms, dusts, washes, and cleans windows. 
Mops or scrapes sticky or heavy liquids from floors.
Knowledge of equipment used in stripping, waxing of floors, vacuuming, and polishing wood, tile, glass, etc. 
Runs power-cleaning equipment, floor machines, cleans, and oils the equipment and changes brushes and accessories.
Ability to obtain, store, safeguard, distribute, and properly use equipment, materials, and supplies.
Handling cleaning problems, lift and move moderately heavy objects, organize cleaning work, and develop work methods.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in performing general maintenance work.
Moves heavy furniture, supplies, equipment; loads and unloads trucks.
Works from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms 
Performs general electrical maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, wall plates, switches, receptacles, and light fixtures.
Methods in performing general maintenance and repair work.
Mow’s lawns, trim hedges, rakes leaves etc. plant and care for flowers, trees, and shrubs.
Shovel’s snow, salts icy surfaces to prevent slipping and requires knowledge of motorized snow removal equipment.
Maintains and makes minor repairs to hand tools, automotive and mechanical equipment, and facilities.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.
Required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems.

License:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.

 
Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing that includes drug screening, criminal background check, and verification of a clean driving record.
