Starting Salary: $39,596.00 

Duties: Under direction, provides instruction on the elementary and/or secondary level in order to further the education of inmates for the purpose of preparing them for a high school equivalency examination; prepares study program in accordance with a standard high school or elementary curriculum; prepares periodic examinations or programs designed to measure inmates’ scholastic knowledge and reading ability; gives remedial reading and/or other instruction to participants to determine their scholastic standing and assigns them to appropriate classes; provides counsel and advice to inmates on programs related to education and vocational goals; does related work as required.

Requirements: Possession of a teacher’s certificate or eligibility for certification as a teacher in the State of New Jersey.
Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods. Ability to observe and report conditions of inmates.
Ability to establish and maintain records and files.

Hours: Full-time, day shift, Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week.
