Assistant Personnel Technician

Salary Range: $42,000-$50,000

Duties: Confidentially performs work involved in varied personnel transactions, including Workers’ Compensation, employee performance, DOT regulations, safety, hiring, PEOSH, records retention, preemployment, and unemployment. Prepares confidential reports and routine correspondence in connection with personnel work. Maintains records and files.

Requirements:
• Ability to acquire the laws of New Jersey and the regulations of the Department of Personnel relative to the varied types of personnel actions.
• Ability to organize assigned technical tasks and to develop effective work methods.
• Ability to comprehend basic Department of Personnel law and regulations.
• Ability to talk with public officials and employees and resolve issues.
• Ability to prepare routine correspondence.
• Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate, and informative statistical and other reports on personnel transactions and problems containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Ability to maintain essential records and files.


Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.


Note: Applicants who do not meet the above education requirement may substitute experience in personnel work which shall have included duties listed above.


License: Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license.


Hours: Typical work shifts are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Shifts include a 1-hour unpaid meal break. May include work outside of the office at department locations within the county.
