Engineering Aide, Department of Public Works
Starting Salary: $38,000
Duties: Reports to the County Engineer. Performs work under the supervision of the County Engineer. Under direction performs routine, repetitive, and noncomplex field and office work and assists in instrument operation, makes the less difficult mathematical calculations, and reduces level notes; does related work as required.
Requirements:
? Performs routine measurements with various equipment/instruments.
? Runs a level rod, drives stakes, clears survey lines, and cares for equipment.
? Cut brush while working in a survey party and reduce level notes.
? Makes simple mathematical calculations and does routine drafting and tracing.
? Inspects and checks earthwork, and checks and records loads of materials taken
? to and from construction sites
? Maintains accurate records.
? Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
? Computer aided drafting (CAD) experience preferred.
? Roadway construction and/or inspection experience preferred.
? Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey and abide by County Motor Vehicle Policies to perform the essential duties of this position.
Hours: The typical work week consists of 40 hours, 7 AM -3:30 PM Monday through Friday; however, overtime may be required.
Note: Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing, verifications of clean driving record, and initial and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
