Duties: Under direction, performs office and field work necessary for providing information and referral and social services for older people according to established standards; does related work required.  Performs professional casework including completion of care plans and social investigations involving recording and assessment of significant facts, drawing sound conclusions upon which appropriate action is recommended on behalf of clients, to clients, families, and related public and private agencies.  Incorporates conclusions, recommendations and pertinent facts in documentation, reports, care plans, and correspondence.  Maintains essential records.  Provides advocacy on behalf of the consumer including creating, obtaining, or brokering needed consumer resources.  

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in social services or a health-related field from an accredited college or university, a bachelor’s degree in social work or State of NJ Social Work certification preferred.  One year’s experience in an agency operating programing work involving counseling or assisting elderly with matters of welfare which can be substituted with a master’s degree.  Good driving record and possession of a New Jersey driver’s license.  Sincere desire to work with disabled and elderly individuals and understanding of their many physical, social and psychological needs.  

Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand or otherwise communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.  Ability to utilize a computer and other office equipment (i.e., fax and copy machines), with particular emphasis on Microsoft Office software programs. Ability to follow procedures and daily instructions.  Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license required.

Hours: Thirty-five (35) hour per week; Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
