Duties: Under Direction of the Department Head, plans, supervises, and has charge of the economical and professional management of all functions, services, facilities, and personnel associated with the storage, preparation, distribution, and service of food for a nutrition program for the elderly; coordinates supporting social services activities for both congregate and home delivered meals; establishes and responsible for system of collecting and recording meal payments; conducts interviews of program participants to record characteristics required for reporting purposes; conducts home visits with participants to monitor progress and qualifications;  maintains and controls the proper sanitary and safety conditions in the preparation, storage, and transportation of hot and cold food components in a home delivered meal program; establishes, maintains, and controls food service records and files related to food delivery, preparation, service, cost, and inventories; establishes and responsible for a system of ordering meals for daily delivery; collects and stores data and is responsible for preparation of recurring and special reports on characteristics of participants in nutrition program; works with project staff to promote participation of elderly participants in nutrition program through coordination of outreach activities; establishes works schedules, provides assignments and instructions and supervises the work performance of staff; oversees the preparation of menus and special diets; provides recommendations for training personnel; utilizes various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units; and does other related work as required.

Requirements: One (1) year of supervisory experience in the preparation and service of food in large quantities in a large- scale food operation or in the supervision of a cafeteria or dining room facility and/or of a home delivered meal program. Knowledge of Chapter 12 of the NJ State Sanitary Code standards for safe and sanitary packaging and delivery of meals. Serv-Safe certification within 90 days of employment. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand or otherwise communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.  Ability to utilize a computer and other office equipment (i.e., fax and copy machines), with particular emphasis on Microsoft Office software programs. Ability to follow procedures and daily instructions.  Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license required.

Hours: Thirty-five (35) hour per week; Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm

Note: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing including drug screening.
