5/5/2009 - Older Americans Month, May 2009

CUMBERLAND COUNTY CELEBRATES
OLDER AMERICANS MONTH MAY 2009

In honor of Older Americans Month, the Cumberland County Office on Aging and Disabled has prepared a special Calendar of Events. The cooperation of community agencies in hosting the events included in the Calendar is acknowledged and appreciated. Our readers are encouraged to participate in and inquire about the scheduled events during this May 2009.

This year's national theme is, "Living Today for a Better Tomorrow.” Taking care of yourself by exercising, consciously following a healthy diet, and ceasing tobacco use, among other activities, will affect your physical and mental health positively and enable you to consider volunteer opportunities which can make life fulfilling for you as well as others, for a "better tomorrow." In these hard economic times, there are many opportunities to help others.

On behalf of the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Office on Aging, may you all have a healthy and happy Older Americans Month, 2009!

  • James Dunkins, Freeholder Liaison to the Office on Aging
  • Misono I. Miller, Executive Director Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders Cumberland County Office on Aging & Disabled
