Jersey Fresh Senior Discount Promotes
Nutrition & Local Farmers

Eligible Cumberland County Seniors are being encouraged to take advantage of a state-supported coupon program that promotes good nutrition through locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Coordinated locally by the Cumberland County Office on Aging and Disabled, the program provides coupons to seniors aged 60 and over to be used for Jersey Fresh produce including fruits, vegetables and herbs available at certified farmers markets and roadside stands. The coupons cannot be redeemed at grocery stores.

“Especially in this tough economy, finding affordable nutritional food is difficult for seniors just getting by on fixed incomes, says Reverend James Dunkins, Freeholder Liaison to the Office on Aging. “Cumberland County is proud to be a part of this important program that helps both our seniors and our local farmers.”

Coupons totaling $20 are available to individual Cumberland County seniors who meet the annual income limit of $20,036. $40 in coupons are available for couples with an annual income of $26,955. Either proof of income or a signed affidavit attesting to the amount of yearly income of the applicant is sufficient to verify income.

The coupons are available at any Office on Aging & Disabled Outreach location. The main Outreach offices are located at 99 W. Broad Street in Bridgeton (856-459-3090); Jaycee Plaza, 122 E. Main Street in Millville (856-825-8707); and the Fiorilli Senior Center, 6th and Elmer Streets in Vineland (856-794-4075).
