12/31/2011 - Recycle Your Christmas Tree

The Cumberland County Improvement Authority wants to remind you to ‘Do The Right Thing’ and recycle your Christmas tree. Recycled trees are chipped into mulch for use in parks, hiking trails, and playground areas.

Recycle Your Christmas TreeYou can use the trees in your own back yard, as well as wintertime mulch. Cut the branches and lay them around shrub boarders or over perennial beds. When spring arrives and the tree is dry, grind it up in a chipper-shredder for mulch, or use it on the compost pile.

Cumberland County residents may recycle their Christmas trees by bringing them to the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex in Deerfield Township, to your local township convenience center, or place them at the curb if your town has a collection program.
