Five members from the Cumberland County Sheriff's department have completed the International Police Mountain Bike Association's (IPMBA) police cyclist course, receiving instruction in traffic laws, nighttime patrol, and bike handling, in addition to other skills. The participants learned everything from hand signals (the left arm straight out for a left turn, forearm bent up for a right, and down for stop), to bike maintenance, and even how to ride directly up a set of stairs.

Sheriff Robert Austino said his five bicycle-certified officers, the first in his department, will be patrolling the Millville air show, the Harvest Festival and the Cumberland County Fair.
