Senior Artists from Cumberland County Shine at State Competition

Ten Cumberland County artists, both professional and non-professional, who won first place awards in the Cumberland County 37th Annual Older Americans Art Show and Competition, are now showing their pieces at the State level competition - the 45th New Jersey Senior Citizens Annual Juried Art Contest and Exhibition.  

 

A total of 230 artworks from 17 New Jersey counties were entered in the State competition, which consisted of 11 different art categories in both professional and non-professional divisions.  The exhibit is on display until October 28th at Meadow Lakes in East Windsor, N.J. 

 

Of the 10 Cumberland County entries, 4 garnered awards as follows:  Judith Scull of Vineland, professional, won First Place for her Pastel work titled "My Collection"; Bobbie Berg of Vineland, professional, earned a Second Place award for her Acrylic, "Morning Arrives on the Marsh"; Edward Bracco of Vineland, non-professional, also achieved Second Place in the Oil category for "Thistle"; and an Honorable Mention award was merited by Irene Ganter of Bridgeton, non-professional, for her Pastel entry, "Buffalo at Rest".

 

Other Cumberland County artists who also competed at the State level are, in the professional division:  Lynn Martini of Vineland with her Photograph, "Hidden Treasures", and Carol Miller of Bridgeton with her Oil painting, "Oyster Creek"; and in the non-professional division:  Terri Ely of Bridgeton with her Watercolor entry, "Pink Peonies", Joan Hoins-Hand of Vineland with her Craft piece titled "Noah’s Ark – Two by Two", Roy Kaneshiki of Bridgeton with his Photograph, "Out to Lunch", and Floyd Pettengill of Millville in the Mixed Media category with "Sailors’ Delight".

 

A closing Reception & Awards Ceremony for the artists will take place on Friday, October 28th at Meadow Lakes.
