9/17/2020 - County Commissioners Castellini & Quinn Honor Millville Chamber's Outstanding Citizen

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, Cumberland County Commissioners George Castellini and Jim Quinn honored JoAnn Burns, who was selected by the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce as September's Outstanding Citizen.  Mrs. Burns is a life-long member of the community and a graduate of Millville Senior High School.  She currently serves as the Principal of the Child Family Center, Millville's Preschool Program, which serves over 600 students and their families.

Mrs. Burns is known for her care of the whole child and every child.  An example of this is that she established and has overseen a food pantry for families of the Child Family Center.  She is a tireless advocate for teachers, has secured grants to advance education, and has participated in the New Jersey Department of Education Early Childhood Task Force.  Mrs. Burns has received several recognitions, including Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year, and has been a mentor to cohorts and young teachers alike.

Commissioner Castellini presented a County Commissioner citation to Mrs. Burns for her life-long educational service and mentorship, as well as her dedication and care for the well-being of the community.
