10/26/2020 - National Cybersecurity Awareness Month - Final Week: Traveling & Cybersecurity

In the final week of National Cybersecurity Month, we will focus on traveling. The upcoming Holiday season is rapidly approaching. As we adhere to the COVID-19 travel safety guidelines, don’t forget that we are constantly connected to the Internet from many devices. Cybersecurity is not just limited to the home or office. When you’re traveling, it is always important to practice safe online behavior and take proactive steps to secure Internet-enabled devices. The Cumberland County Department of Information Technology (CISO Stan Field), the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office (Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae) and the Cumberland County Office of Consumer Protection (Director James Matlock) have some important cybersecurity traveling tips to share before you go anywhere. Some helpful tips include: 1. Update your software; 2. Back up your information; 3. Use multi-factor authentication to login; and 4. Don’t be too quick to click!
