CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ (December 24, 2020) – Cumberland County Department of Health is happy to announce another testing option for county residents and essential workers who are employed in Cumberland County. Children as young as six years old who live in Cumberland County can also use the test. This test should be ordered and used immediately upon receiving it – it is not suggested to hold the kit for future use.
This at-home test is easily taken by a sample of saliva – which has the same effectiveness as a nasal swab test. The test is performed under healthcare provider supervision via a video telehealth visit with Vault.
“Our hope is that this new program will remove a significant number of patients from our local facilities’ in-person testing lines, so that they are able to service symptomatic patients more rapidly,” said Noah Hetzell, Assistant Health Officer for the Cumberland County Department of Health.
It is recommended that symptomatic individuals seek more immediate testing through local, in-person resources (Riverside Urgent Care, Inspira Urgent Care, CompleteCare Health Network, or local drug stores).
This test should be utilized for:
- individuals who need testing after being exposed to a person who has tested positive
- individuals who have traveled out of state
- individuals who need testing for medical reasons (surgery, doctor visits, etc.)
To register for your at-home test kit, visit www.cumberlandathometesting.org/. Individuals who register for the test will be asked to provide their insurance information, but insurance is not required. There is no copay or out-of-pocket costs for the at-home test. Individuals will need a photo ID.
Once registered, individuals will be electronically passed to the Vault Health website where they can enter their information to have a test kit shipped directly to their home address. The test is self-administered during an online telehealth visit with a Vault representative. Once completed, the specimen will be sealed and shipped to the laboratory by prepaid envelope. Shipping instructions are included with the kit. Test results are e-mailed directly to the patient. The entire process should take between 3-5 days from registration to results, depending on shipping time and laboratory capacity.
