RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)

 

The Retired and Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) is the largest organized senior volunteer program in the nation and is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service. This program is sponsored by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners and administered by the Cumberland County Office on Aging & Disability Services, provides opportunities for people aged 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choices of volunteer assignments working in community wide projects throughout Cumberland County, New Jersey.  Since 2024, more than 175 RSVP volunteers have been active throughout the county, serving in over 30 volunteer stations that support agencies, senior centers, and community programs.  Their service ranges from occasional, project-based assistance to ongoing weekly commitments, with each volunteer offering their own skills, experience, and passion to meet local needs.  Since 2024, RSVP volunteers have contributed more than 400 hours of service, reflecting their extraordinary dedication and continued impact on the RSVP program.

Eligibility
  • Adults who are at least 55 years of age are eligible for the RSVP program

Volunteers are the “Helping Hands” of the majority of non-profit organizations and are often in short supply. RSVP volunteer’s help these agencies meet the priority needs of the community. The staff of RSVP will be happy to match your skills to the specific needs of our community’s agencies. We can open doors to make the right contact for you as a volunteer. RSVP of Cumberland County New Jersey needs volunteers for the following sites:
RSVP Advisory Council Seeking members to meet quarterly and assist with outreach, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and donation solicitation efforts.
SHIP
(Senior Health Insurance Program)
State sponsored program needs volunteers to assist and council seniors with health insurance questions, mandatory training and monthly meeting
Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center Volunteers are needed to assist with outreach efforts, provide information to visitors, and help with occasional clerical tasks.
Millville Army Airfield Museum Volunteers are needed to serve as museum guides, help with events, and support the Executive Director with designated tasks.
Code Blue Project Needs volunteers to assist with the preparation of the "Warming Centers". Centers are located in Bridgeton, Millville and Vineland.
