Commissioner Robert Austino

Austino brings over 30 years of public service and government administrative experience, particularly in budget management and overseeing one of the largest workforces in the county. He joined the Vineland Police Department in April 1973 and rose through the ranks to become a lieutenant. Austino retired from the Vineland Police Department in July 2003. On January 1, 2009, he was elected Sheriff of Cumberland County.

Austino attended Bridgeton High School, Cumberland County College, and Glassboro State College.

He is currently a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Sheriff's Association, the New Jersey Sheriff's Association, the Cumberland County Human Relations Commission, and the Cumberland County Youth Services Advisory Council. Additionally, he serves as an advisor for the Cumberland County VoTech Center. Austino is the past president of the Fraternal Order of Police, Cumberland Lodge #8, and the president of the Vineland Superior Officers Association.
